Soil Aggregate x Microbes (Moonshot Project)
2020 Nov to 2022+
We will investigate the mechanism by which indigenous microorganisms are stably maintained in soil and develop their functions based on (1) evaluation of aggregate structure and microbial flora in natural soil and (2) artificial aggregate preparation and culture experiments. This will clarify the physicochemical environmental factors that control the survival and activity of microorganisms responsible for the nitrogen cycle.
Japan-Canada-France SOC Joint Project
2019 Jan to 2024 March
We aim to elucidate the soil carbon storage potential and its determinants in agricultural land. Approach: Isotopic labeling (C-13) Tracking crop residues, comparing long-term continuous test soils from Japan, France and Canada, using Japan's national agricultural land database

Mitigation in Irrigated Rice Paddies in Southeast Asia (MIRSA): We are evaluating soil carbon and nitrogen in the development of comprehensive cultivation management technology for GHG reduction in paddy fields in the Asian region.
